Family left horrified and ‘shaken’ after gun fired at Sheffield house with children inside

An investigation has been launched after an air rifle was fired at a house in Sheffield with two small children inside.

Police were called to Shirebrook Road at 6.58pm on Monday (28 September) following reports the kitchen window of a property had been shot at.

Officers discovered damage to a window ‘consistent with that of an air rifle’ when they arrived.

Posting online, a woman who lives at the address said two children, aged four and 22 months, were inside the kitchen with an adult when it was fired at. The bullet “appears to have come from the direction of Nicholson Road over the back garden,” she said.

The woman said the family have been left “very shaken”.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “An investigation into criminal damage is underway following reports of an air rifle discharge at a property in Sheffield.

“Enquiries are continuing and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 710 of 28 September 2020.”
