Ben went missing on July 24, 1991, aged 21 months, while his grandparents Eddie and Christine Needham were looking after him on the Greek island of Kos. The toddler had been playing outside a remote farmhouse his grandfather was renovating when he disappeared.

His grandparents had moved to Kos for a new life and Ben’s mum, Kerry, had taken him to visit and was also considering moving to the island.

“Do you know where his body may be? Are you on Kos and have heard rumours? Facts? Do you know ANYTHING that could lead The Needham Family to their beloved Ben?”

It continued: “Please do the right thing [...] It will help his family with the grieving process and acceptance of recent findings. It will help YOU!”

In September and October 2016, police carried out a fresh search for Ben's remains, believing he may have been killed accidentally by a digger driver.

At the time, detective inspector Jon Cousins from South Yorkshire Police said: “It is my professional belief that Ben Needham died as a result of an accident near to the farmhouse in Iraklis where he was last seen playing."

On Friday morning South Yorkshire Police tweeted: “Our thoughts remain with the Needham family today and we remain in regular contact with them.”
