Fake letters demand cash for new fibre optic lines

Have your say

Trading Standards officials are warning residents to be aware of a scam letter claiming to be from Derbyshire County Council and demanding part payment for a fibre optic line to be installed.

The letter, featuring the council’s logo and crest, asks for cash for the line to enable a neighbour to work from home from a computer.

It claims those receiving the letters are liable for part of the bill.

Council bosses say the letter is a fake and should be reported.
