Extra police officers are set to remain on a Sheffield estate today after two shootings.

They were deployed to Arbourthorne after homes on Errington Avenue and Aylward Road were shot in less than 10 minutes.

Two arrests have been made so far, with a 20-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Murphy, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “We know this type of criminality has devastating impacts on our communities and we are committed to ensuring that those involved are brought before the courts.

“We are treating this as a targeted attack and do not believe that there is a wider risk to the public.

“You will continue to see an increased presence of police officers in the Arbourthorne area today. Our teams are there to reassure you that we are doing all we can to tackle this organised criminality.”
