Extra police patrols have been ordered in Sheffield after the latest shooting.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the city last Friday afternoon as he sat in a car on Hill Street, close to the junction with London Road.

South Yorkshire Police said he was shot in his shoulder after he was approached by ‘persons unknown’.

Those involved remain at large today.

Detective Sergeant John Dimberline, of South Yorkshire Police, said: “We have increased police patrols in these areas, and you will see extra officers as we carry

out enquiries, examine the scene and gather CCTV footage from local businesses.

“I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this incident and identify those responsible.”
