Ex-Sheffield United striker Marcus Bent could be jailed today after admitting affray and possession of cocaine.

Bent, aged 37, scored 20 goals in 48 games for the Blades in the 1999-2000 season and made a further 11 appearances during a loan spell back at Bramall Lane in 2011.

He is to be sentenced today after admitting affray and possessing drugs during previous hearings at Guildford Crown Court.

The offences relate to an incident at his house in Esher, Surrey, in September last year, during which Bent was Tasered by police officers responding to reports of a break-in.

Judge Stephen Climie ordered probation reports to be prepared on the former striker and warned him that he could face a custodial sentence.
