There are at least eight gunmen roaming the streets of South Yorkshire after a spate of shootings this month.

At least 10 shootings have been reported to South Yorkshire Police this month, with suspects charged over two of the incidents.

In the latest attack, a 22-year-old man was shot as he sat in a car on Hill Street, close to the junction with London Road.

Earlier in the month there were nine shootings in nine days.

At 1am on Monday, January 13, a gun was fired towards a house in Spalton Road, Parkgate, Rotherham.

Two men, 28 and 30, were arrested but not charged.

The day before, a 12-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting on Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, Sheffield.

Police said he was an innocent bystander.

Six arrests have been made so far, with two men - Devon Gregory, aged 23, of Heeley Green, Heeley and Stephen Dunford, 25, of Fellbrigg Road, Arbourthorne - accused of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

​​On Saturday, January 11, shots were fired at a house in Balby, Doncaster.

No arrests have been made.

There were three shootings on Friday, January 10, including an gun attack on Burman Road, Wath, Rotherham.

A man was arrested and released under investigation.

Later that same night there were two shootings in five minutes

A gun was fired in Northcote Avenue, Meersbrook and there was a shooting at the Kettle Black bar on Ecclesall Road.

Four arrests have been made over the Meersbrook incident and one man - Luca Premi, 24, of Treswell Crescent, Hillsborough - has been charged over the incident at the bar.

On Monday, January 8 shots were fired at a house in Lutterworth Drive, Adwick-Le-Street, Doncaster.

Two men were arrested and remain on bail.

The day before, a 44-year-old man was shot in his arm on Carlisle Street, Burngreave, Sheffield.

No arrests have yet been made.

In the first shooting of the year, a man was shot on Staniforth Road, Darnall, on Saturday, January 4.

Two arrests were made but no charges have yet been brought.
