EIGHT arrests have been made after an air rifle was fired from a flat in Chesterfield – injuring a police community support officer and a man.

Police were called to Didcot Close, Chesterfield, at 10.15am on Sunday after receiving reports of an air rifle being fired from a flat.

A 20-year-old man was hit in the back by a pellet as he walked across open space on Kingsclere Walk and a police community support officer was hit in the leg while responding to a report of a burnt-out moped in the area. They both received minor injuries.

Damage was also caused to a window of a house on Kingsclere Walk.

Three men aged between 18 and 21, four 17-year-old youths and an 18-year-old woman were arrested in connection with the incident.
