Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on February 20 how motorist Mark David Guest, 41, of Bradfield Road, Hillsborough, was approached by a police officer who had been tipped-off by a staff member at the McDonald’s drive-thru on Penistone Road, Sheffield.

Mark Hughes, prosecuting, said the officer – who was tipped-off during a break at the McDonald’s – asked Guest to turn-off his engine and get out of his BMW.

Pari Seeley, defending, said Guest had been drinking with his partner and had gone home and slept before his partner wanted some food so he drove to McDonald's because he had felt safe.

Guest was fined £500 and must pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 costs. He was disqualified from driving for 40 months.
