Drug dogs visit South Yorkshire pubs and clubs

POLICE sniffer dogs were sent into pubs and clubs in Chesterfield looking for revellers with drugs.

Derbyshire Police officers took two dogs into the town as part of a crackdown on the supply of drugs.

A number people were searched by officers under the Misuse of Drugs Act and two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested.

Police Licensing Sergeant Nev Stocks said: “This is the latest in a series of operations in which we’ve used drugs dogs in Chesterfield.

“We continue to take positive action against those who carry, use and deal in drugs in our towns and cities.

“Further operations of this nature will be carried out throughout the year to help to reduce alcohol and drug related violence.”
