Sheffield Crown Court has heard during an on-going trial how father-of-one Mr Bagshaw, 21, was allegedly stabbed twice in the chest on July 21, 2019, before he was found on Piper Crescent, near the Southey Green area, and died in hospital.

Four accused who deny murder include a 17-year-old boy, of no fixed abode, who cannot be named for legal reasons; Callum Ramsey, 18, of Batworth Drive, Shirecliffe; Jervaise Bennett, 20, of no fixed abode; and Nicki Humphrey, 42, of Avenue Grove, Harrogate.

Humphrey, who was a driver for the 17-year-old drug-dealer, claimed he had only been driving in April, 2019, when Mr Bagshaw's father Daniel Cutts and another man had allegedly stolen drugs from the youngster.

The court heard that subsequently, an alleged assault on Mr Bagshaw's father by Humphrey and the 17-year-old led to a dispute between Lewis Bagshaw and the 17-year-old.

Humphrey said he had driven the 17-year-old to sell drugs to Mr Cutts and another man who pulled-up in a van but the 17-year-old told him he had been robbed.

He said: “I had seen the van set-off and he stood there and came to the door fast and jumped in the car and said they have robbed me.”

Humphrey added he followed the van but Mr Cutts and the other man got out swinging baseball bats.

The court heard Humphrey had also been driving the 17-year-old in May, 2019, when the youngster saw Mr Cutts and took a wheel brace from the vehicle.

Humphrey claimed he later discovered Mr Cutts had been attacked but he had not seen anything because he had driven away to take drugs.

He added he had only been driving when Mr Bagshaw’s father was attacked and when Mr Bagshaw was allegedly murdered.

Humphrey has pleaded not guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm upon Mr Cutts.

But the 17-year-old, who has accepted being involved in drug-dealing, has pleaded guilty to this assault.
