Nottingham Crown Court heard on December 11 how Mohammed Khan, 39, of Hadfield Close, Sheffield, was jailed for seven years after pleading guilty to a string of drug dealing charges in connection with the incident in Nottingham.

Officers stopped Khan in his Lexus on Crocus Street, The Meadows, in May 2018, after noticing two brake lights were not working, according to the court.

Police stated that they smelled cannabis so they searched the vehicle and found a large quantity of cocaine, Ecstasy and cannabis.

Officers also recovered cash, a mobile phone and business cards which an expert told the court were typical of those used by people who sell drugs.

Khan initially denied possession with intent to supply cocaine, Ecstasy and cannabis but he admitted the charges at Nottingham Crown Court.

He was also arrested on suspicion of drug dealing following a similar incident where he was stopped by officers who suspected him of speeding on the M1 between junctions 29 and 29a in November, 2018.

Khan admitted separate drug dealing and dangerous driving charges after being stopped by police on the M1.

He failed to stop for police and drove dangerously while trying to evade arrest, according to police, but officers used a stinger to stop him.

Khan fled but was captured and arrested with a large amount of drugs recovered close to the scene.

He was charged with dangerous driving, possessing cocaine and Ecstasy with intent to supply and possessing cannabis.

He was jailed for a total of seven years as well as being banned from driving for four-and-a-half years.

Sergeant Tom Andrews said: "The first incident shows the value of the proactive policing that goes on in neighbourhoods across the county every day because what started as a routine vehicle stop led to the discovery of a number of drug dealing offences.

"The second incident shows Khan really didn't learn his lesson, although I'm sure he will have plenty of time to think about the error of his ways now.”
