Driver sped through Sheffield streets at 70mph, through red lights and on wrong side of road

A man has been jailed after driving on the wrong side of the road, through red lights and at speeds of 70mph during a police chase in Sheffield.

Sylvester Blake, aged 57, of Normanton Spring Road, Intake, was involved in a police chase when he failed to stop for officers in August 2019.

The white Audi A1 he was driving was followed from Southey to Burngreave, where it was abandoned on Earsham Street.

Blake ran off but was tracked down and arrested.

Officers also discovered that he was wanted for failing to appear at court after he was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after being found with £450 worth of cocaine and heroin in 2018.

Blake was sentenced to 37 months for the drug offence, 10 months for dangerous driving and one month for driving while disqualified.

He was also banned from driving for five years.
