Driver flees crash scene in Sheffield after car flips onto roof

Police are hunting a motorist who fled a crash scene in Sheffield after their car lost control and flipped onto its roof.

Officers were called to Woodthorpe Road shortly after 12.30am on Monday, 22 June following the incident, which caused damage to three parked cars.

One witness, who did not want to be named, said there were three police cars at the scene as well as an ambulance and a recovery vehicle.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police were called shortly after 12.30am today (Monday 22 June) to reports of a road traffic collision in the Woodthorpe area.

“It’s understood that the blue Vauxhall Insignia was travelling along Woodthorpe Road before it lost control and came to rest on its roof. Damage was caused to three parked cars as a result of the incident.

“The driver of the vehicle is understood to have immediately left the scene. Enquiries are now ongoing to trace them.”
