A DRIVER has died after losing control of his car and crashing into a bus in Sheffield.

The 28-year-old man, from Rotherham, suffered fatal injuries after his black Volkswagen Golf hit the double-decker bus on Brightside Lane, Sheffield.

The Golf was travelling towards Meadowhall on Brightside Lane, when it is believed to have lost control and travelled sideways towards a railway bridge, 150m away from Woodbine Road.

The bus driver, a man from Barnsley aged 46, sustained trauma injuries and was taken hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information, should call police on 101.

Assault arrests

TWO teenagers aged 17 and 18 were arrested by police after men were attacked in separate assaults within minutes of each other.

The first was at 11pm last Thursday, when a man said he was approached by youths who punched him and demanded cash as he walked along Baden Powell Road, Chesterfield. He ran off - and while police were investigating they were approached by second man on Park Road who said he too had been assaulted.
