Driver and passenger handed Covid fines after sharing spliff on M1 near Sheffield

A motorist and his passenger were stopped by the police after being reported for sharing a cannabis spliff as they travelled along the M1 near Sheffield.

Officers pulled over the silver Seat Ibiza they were in, near Meadowhall, yesterday and a small amount of cannabis was recovered from the car.

The driver tested positive for cannabis at the scene and was arrested.

The men told officers that they were en-route from Chesterfield to Barnsley for ‘food’ and were issued with fines for Covid breaches.
