Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 9 how Adam Royston, 32, of Berrisford Avenue, Eckington, lost control of his Ford Focus, on Rotherham Road, at Halfway, Sheffield, on December 17.

Royston pleaded guilty to exceeding the alcohol drink-drive limit after registering 63 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when the limit is 35 microgrammes.

The defendant apologised and said he had clipped the back wheel of another car and lost control.

He was fined £308 and must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 17 months.
