On March 4, around 1.30pm, it is reported that a black Peugeot and a HGV collided on the motorway, but the driver of the HGV failed to stop at the scene of the incident.

Based on dashcam footage released by South Yorkshire Police, the HGV is seen travelling on the third lane and signalling to the left lane, with the black Peugeot in front of it.

The car then swerved to the right, before crashing into the barrier on the left.

The police said the driver and passengers of the Peugeot were uninjured but shaken.

They are now looking for witnesses that could assist them in their investigation.

Officer investigating Natalie Booler said: “We are appealing for the driver of the HGV to come forward and assist us with our investigation, or for anyone who witnessed the incident to provide us with information.

“It is likely that the HGV vehicle returned to its place of work with significant damage.

“The HGV was carrying yellow and red gas bottles that may be identified by the company or owner.”

Those with information are advised to come forward or call 101 quoting incident number 448 of 4 March 2021.
