In a Facebook post that is making its rounds on social media, an eyewitness said the dog owner – an older lady – was walking her dog when a man drove on to the path at 60mph.

“It broke my heart to watch the lady picking bits of her dog off the road into a bag,” the eyewitness said, adding that the driver did not stop but left half of the bumper behind.

The police urged those with information to call 101 quoting incident number 723 of 17 December.
