Neville Clarke and Stacey Smith, who own Stay Fresh Barbers on Handsworth Road, Handsworth, spoke out after a school bus ploughed into their business premises at around 7.50am.

The bus, operated by Central Travel, had 24 children onboard at the time, including 15 from Sheffield High School for Girls.

It veered out of control as it was heading in the direction of the Sheffield Parkway, causing extensive damage the barber shop.

None of the children on the bus are believed to have been seriously injured but one was taken to hospital by ambulance and some concerned parents took a number of others as a precaution.

An investigation into the collision has been launched.

Stacey Swift, who co-owns the barber shop, told the BBC: “I'm fuming. I don't understand how it happened. Why our shop? We've been open just under a year, so we've lost everything.

“I've not seen all of the damage yet as they won't let me in. I can't believe it. I'm lost for words.”

Fellow-co-owner, Neville Clarke, also told the BBC: “It's luck that nobody was inside and nobody got injured.”

The owner of Enver’s Cafe and Grill, next door to the damaged barber shop, posted about the incident on Facebook this morning.

He said: “We are on our way now to assess the damage.

“We will let everyone know who has a table booked this evening if we will be opening.”
