Desperate vagrant is locked-up after harassing sympathetic man
A desperate vagrant has been remanded in custody after he harassed a sympathetic man who helps asylum seekers.
Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on January 7 how Algerian Mohammed Mufta, aged 27, of The Archer Project, on Campo Lane, Sheffield, admitted harassing the man after repeatedly visiting his home on Whirlowdale Road between January 1 and 5.
Mark Hughes, prosecuting, said the complainant assists asylum seekers and had helped Mufta.
However, the defendant visited his home on New Year’s Day and returned behaving unpredictably and returned again and again and was found near the conservatory.
Mufta, who was living in a hut at Millhouses Methodist Church, pleaded guilty to harassment. He is also on bail for thefts.
Matt Hague, defending, said there were no threats and he considered the complainant as a friend.
Magistrates adjourned Mufta’s case until January 22 to consider a probation report. Mufta was remanded in custody.
