Amy Lynskey’s vehicile was broken into at some point between 9pm on Tuesday night and 8am on Wednesday on the Langsett estate in Sheffield.

As well as stealing the nappies, the thieves also caused around £200 of damage to her car, and Amy now wants people to be aware that some are taking advantage of the quiet streets to commit crime.

Amy, aged 28, said: “I just want people to be aware of what is happening. Clearly with the lack of people and police around the breaking in and stealing is starting.

“People are obviously desperate and it is only going to get worse – but if they would have knocked on the door and asked me for the nappies I would have given it to them.”

Amy said she had actually bought the nappies for a friend, leaving then in the car ready to take round to his house.

She is currently living on the Langsett estate with her 90-year-old grandma - who she will be looking after throughout the coronavirus outbreak.

“I had to close my business because of all this and I am currently living off no income at all,” she said.

“I also have to go to my father-in-law’s funeral on Friday and the insurance company says they won’t pay out until all this is over so it is not what you want.”
