Dangerous driver caught on camera speeding at 105mph on M1 near Sheffield

Police caught a driver on camera speeding at 105 mph on the M1 near Sheffield, as part of an attempted ‘dive off’ the motorway.

Officers followed the vehicle in Derbyshire after it was seen travelling down the motorway at speed, where the driver was then clocked speeding at 105 mph before attempting to exit the M1.

The driver faces a minimum £100 fine and three points on his license.

Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit tweeted: “M1. Vehicle seen travelling at speed. Clocked at 105mph before a relatively tame 'Derbyshire Dive' off the motorway. Driver passed his test less than a year so now he's got problems. #Fatal4 #SlowDown”

Licenses can be revoked if motorists get six points within their first two years of driving.

One social media user said: “He'll pay the price for this misdemeanor (in so many ways) - but at least he'll be able to brag to his mates that he's "Done the ton".
