Dad-of-three caught after he began 'delivering cocaine and ecstasy around Sheffield'

Amir Zaman was driving erratically on Sharrow Lane, when police pulled his Seat Ibitha over, at 9.40pm, on April 1, prosecutor Louise Gallagher told Sheffield Crown Court.

Officers found 14 grams of cocaine in 16 packages, worth £460, 109 grams of skunk cannabis in 40 wraps, valued between £885 and £1,100, and nine grams of ecstasy in 12 bags, valued at £420.

More than £530 in cash and three mobiles phones were also recovered, and one of them contained text messages with adddresses and instructions for drug deliveries.

Vanessa Saxton, mitigating, said the dad-of-three had worked in the construction business, and the dealing only began on March 23.

"He was anxious about his financial position and began delivering after lockdown was imposed," she said.

"He and his family had been threatened after an object that he was looking after went missing from a vehicle."

The court heard he has one previous conviction for possession of cannabis in 2016.

Zaman, 30, of Primrose Avenue, Sheffield, pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply, one count of possession of a Class B drug with intent, and possession of criminal property, when he appeared at Sheffield Crown Court, on Friday.

Judge Graham Reeds QC told him: “You had a significant role. You could have resisted the pressure that was put on you."

Zaman received two years and six months in prison.
