Cyclist suffering life-threatening injuries discovered by police in Sheffield

Police are appealing for witnesses after discovering a seriously injured cyclist in Sheffield last night.

Officers were travelling along Prince of Wales Road when they found the injured cyclist lying on the path, underneath the railway bridge, at 8:30pm on Saturday, September 26.

It is understood the 55-year-old man had been cycling towards Darnall when he was possibly involved in a collision with a dark-coloured 4x4 vehicle.

He has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

South Yorkshire Police said: “At this time, it is not yet clear whether a collision took place.

“Enquiries are ongoing to trace the 4x4 vehicle and its driver, and an investigation is underway to understand how the cyclist came to be injured.”

Officers are keen to speak to members of the public who reportedly stopped to administer first aid to the cyclist.
