A Sheffield councillor has spoken of the ‘community shock’ over the suspected murder of a 45-year-old man in High Green.

Police arrested a man and a woman on Saturday morning and a third man later that afternoon, as a suspected murder investigation got underway

A South Yorkshire Police Tweet on Saturday read: “A 45-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead while being taken to hospital.

“A 31-year-old man was the third person to be arrested after a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested this morning, all three remain in police custody.”

Police were called shortly before 1am, on January 30, after reports that a man had been assaulted on South Road.

West Ecclesfield Ward Councillor Mike Levery said: “Obviously, this has come as a complete shock to have happened in our community.

"The police need to carry out their investigations and are providing the necessary support to those affected.”
