'Could have cried'- 20 minute old Lamborghini decimated in M1 smash

A Lamborghini was destroyed in a crash on the M1- just 20 minutes after it was purchased.

Three lanes of the motorway were closed after the sports car was hit from behind near Wakefield yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, June 24).

The vehicle had stopped due to a mechanical failure before it collided with a van, leaving the van driver with head injuries not thought to be serious.

PC Richard Whiteley, of West Yorkshire Police, tweeted a picture of the damage to the Lamborghini- believed to be worth around £200,000.

He said: “It’s only a car! But on this occasion a 20 minute old brand new Lamborghini that stopped due to mechanical failure in lane 3, then hit from behind by an innocent motorist #couldhavecried.”

The smash, between Junction 40 at Flushdyke and Junction 39 at Durkar, caused long delays as police recovered the vehicles.
