A man claiming to be a council worker conned his way into a Sheffield pensioner’s house and stole her purse.

He called at the property in Hemsworth Road, Hemsworth, just after 1.10pm on Wednesday, March 25, claiming to be offering free window locks.

The occupant, an 88-year-old woman, allowed the conman into her home and he went upstairs with the victim to check the windows.

When he left she realised her purse was missing.

The thief was white, in his 50s and wearing ‘work clothes’.

Call police on 101.
