A SHEFFIELD club has become the haunt of city gangs involved with drugs, violence and weapons, according to a senior police offices concerned about serious crime and disorder at the venue.

The West Street-based venue, formerly known as Redstone and Pinky’s before re-branding as Amnesia, is to have its licence reviewed on Tuesday following concerns from South Yorkshire Police.

Superintendent Martin Hemingway, in a report for Sheffield Council’s licensing sub committee, said there had been ‘several incidents of disorder of increasing severity’ at the venue, which culminated in a ‘serious wounding incident’ in December.

He said a minor dispute between two women in the venue ‘escalated into an all-out fight’ which spilled onto West Street.
