Class A drugs seized following Manor and Arbourthorne car searches

Officers from South Yorkshire’s Serious Violent Crime Taskforce seized Class A drugs and cash from a vehicle yesterday (20 January) during patrols in the Manor and Arbourthorne areas of Sheffield.

Two men, aged 25 and 20, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after a car was stopped by officers during a routine stop search.

The 20-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article, while the 25-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of being over the prescribed limit for drink or drugs.

Both have since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

Thirty vehicles were also stopped and searched across the Manor, Arbourthorne and Norfolk Park by the force over the weekend.

Officers are continuing with extra deployments as part of community reassurance and ongoing work to tackle organised crime in the east of the city.

Sgt Ash Franklin said: “My team also stop-searched 15 people during mobile patrols over the weekend and four people were arrested for a variety of offences including failing to stop for officers and assault.

“People will have noticed an increase in both officers on foot patrol and police vehicles, we want this to be reassuring and not any cause for concern.
