Christmas Day shooting: 'Many' people contact police after drive-by in Sheffield, leaves man, 20, 'critical'

‘Many’ people have come forward with information after a man was shot in Sheffield on Christmas Day, police say.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles said every detail helped them refine lines of enquiry and “close in on” people they wanted to speak to.

A 20-year-old man was critically injured in a drive-by shooting in Wilfred Drive, Darnall, just before 11.30pm on December 25.

Four men, aged 20, 22, 28 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on December 26. They were bailed after police questioning.

DCI Knowles said: “We called upon the public to get behind us in tackling those intent on causing harm in our communities, and I’m delighted that they heeded this message.

"Since that night, many of you have come forward to share information, and to speak with our officers in good faith.

“That flow of information is vital. Each detail—no matter how small—helps us refine lines of enquiry and close in on those we are keen to speak to in relation to this investigation."

Neighbourhood officers remain in the area to listen and provide reassurance, he added.

Pass information to police by calling 101, quoting incident number 732 of December 25, 2025.

Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111.
