Children across the country back search for stolen Sheffield puppy, as reward rises to £1,500

The story of a dog which was stolen from a support worker in Sheffield has touched the hearts of children across the nation.

They have been sharing adorable homemade posters appealing for information about the theft, using the hashtag #rainbowsforbella.

Dion Taha was devastated when she returned to her home near Bowden Woods in Darnall on Saturday, March 28, after a long shift helping dementia patients during the coronavirus lockdown, to find the place ransacked and her beloved French bulldog puppy Bella missing.

Neighbours with CCTV saw a man with a hoodie walking in the area around the time Bella was stolen, and a ‘gunmetal’ colour Audi was also spotted nearby.

Dion told at the time how Bella would be ‘so frightened’ but said she was touched by the messages of support she had received from across Sheffield.

The search has since gone national, with children taking poor Bella’s plight to heart and drawing pictures of the three-month old puppy alongside rainbows on posters appealing for information.

Beautys Legacy, a Twitter account set up to reunite lost and stolen animals with their owners, has been sharing just some of the posters youngsters from across the country have created.

“We need to stop this. We need to put it right. Stolen in broad daylight from her home. #keyworker owner is a #dementia carer. This is despicable. #findbella #rainbowsforbella,” tweeted the account’s owners, who said they had received hundreds of phone calls about Bella.
