His force has mounted an operation in Fishlake, Conisbrough and Bentley to work in partnership with other agencies to tackle issues affecting flood-hit communities.

Chief Superintendent Shaun Morley, Commander for Doncaster, said: “Today we’re working with colleagues from the council, Environment Agency, British Red Cross, Yorkshire Water and the fire service, to assist with the recovery phase of the flooding.

“Officers will be speaking to everyone who has been affected by the flooding, to offer crime prevention advice and information relating to scams and rogue traders.

“Public health messages will also be shared from our colleagues working with us here today.

“This is very much a team effort and we’re working hard to support everyone who has been affected and provide advice going forward.”

He added: “I’m also aware that there have been some messages circulating about burglaries in the areas affected and I’d like to stress that at this time, we have not had any reports of burglaries in relation to the evacuated properties.”
