Shoppers in Chesterfield can pick up a free property-marking pen as they buy their Christmas presents.
Officers from Derbyshire Police are handing out the pens to visitors to stores at the Spire Walk Business Park.
They are also speaking to shoppers about how to stay safe and prevent crime in the run-up to Christmas.
The first event was held at Toys R Us last Thursday and the team will also be visiting B&Q on Monday.
Community support officer Kirsty Handby said: “Marking your valuables and taking a few steps such as leaving a light on at home if you’re out, and not leaving gifts and valuables on show in vehicles can help to reduce the risk of becoming a victim of crime.”
