Cash and jewels taken from flat

JEWELLERY and foreign currency were stolen during a break-in at a flat above a takeaway in Chesterfield.

Police were called to the property on Chatsworth Road and informed a $1,000 Hong Kong note, a number of commemorative gold coins showing the Canadian leaf and a haul of jewellery, including gold bracelets, two gold necklaces, a diamond-set gold earring and four jewel-set rings had been stolen.

They were taken on Tuesday, December 11, between noon and 10.30pm.

Police are urging businesses that exchange money to be aware of Hong Kong or Canadian currency circulating in the town.
