Carnage on Sheffield street as car ploughs through hedge after horror crash

Shocking pictures from the scene showed a grey Volkswagen inches away from a Sheffield house after smashing through a hedge on Spinkhill Road last night.

A red Fiesta was also destroyed in the crash on the corner of Richmond Hall Road.

One witness said: “I was asleep and I heard a bang. I thought it was my car at first and I went on the balcony and saw a bloke in the garden shouting how fast the guy in the red Fiesta was going.

"The lad ran off and I went out to see if he was fine. Police came and got the lad round the corner. I made sure there were no visible injuries to the guy.

"There were a few people helping the man, there’s a great community spirit around here.”

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for a response.
