Firefighters in South Yorkshire have tackled a number of car fires across the county over the festive period.

In the early hours of yesterday they dealt with a Nissan Micra found engulfed in flames on Stead Lane, Hoyland Common, Barnsley.

The cause of the blaze has not been recorded on fire service systems.

At 1.40am yesterday crews also dealt with a Ford Fusion found burning on Albert Road, West Melton, Rotherham.

The fire had been started deliberately.

On Christmas Day Sheffield firefighters were called to Falstaff Road, Parson Cross, to deal with a Vauxhall Nova which had been set alight and on Boxing Day a Fiat 500 was torched on Lowburn Road, Woodthorpe.
