Car dumped in woodland and set alight in arson attack

Firefighters found a car burning in woodland off Wentworth Road, Blacker Hill, Barnsley, in the early hours of yesterday.

The blaze, discovered at 3.10am, destroyed the car leaving it unrecognisable.

Crews working on Thursday night into Friday morning across the county were also called out to deal with a hedge set alight on Brocklehurst Avenue, Kendray, Barnsley, a skip torched on Limpsfield Road, Brightside, Sheffield, and grassland fired on Highthorn Road, Kilnhurst, Rotherham.

A garage was also set alight in an arson attack on Hill Street, Elsecar, Barnsley.
