A CABBIE has been handed a suspended prison sentence after he was convicted of perverting the course of justice.
Mahaz Ahmed Raja Mohammad was caught breaking the speed limit on the A61 in Sheffield in October, driving at 36mph in a 30mph zone.
But he said another man had been driving at the time.
Investigations revealed Mohammad, of Bradford, was signed on to work with Leeds-based taxi firm Amber Cars on the night of the offence, and had driven a customer from Leeds to Sheffield at the time the car was clocked.
At Bradford Crown Court, Mohammad was sentenced to six month’ jail, suspended for 12 months, handed 250 hours of community service and fined £300.
