The teenager was taken to hospital, where he remained last night in a critical but stable condition, following a collision involving a double decker bus on Retford Road, in Handsworth, yesterday, Monday, December 2.

The crash happened as the boy, who is a year nine pupil at Handsworth Grange Community Sports College, crossed Retford Road close to the junction with Beaver Hill Road at around 7.35am.

Stagecoach Yorkshire, which operates the number 52 bus involved, today said its thoughts were with the teenager and his family and it was assisting police with their enquiries.
