Darren Rundle, aged 46, of Yewdale, Worsbough Bridge, Barnsley, stole the cash from Mecca Bingo, on Flat Street, after asking for a new membership card, according to a Sheffield Magistrates' Court hearing on July 31.

Rundle pleaded guilty to burglary after the incident in July, 2018.

Darren Withers, defending, said jobless Rundle is dependent on benefits and has been unwell with ulcers and his dire health should be considered.

Magistrates sentenced Rundle to a 12-month community order with a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

He must also pay £820 compensation, £200 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.
