A 21-YEAR-OLD has been charged with grievous bodily harm following an incident on New Year’s Day which left a 35-year-old man with severe head injuries.

Paul Oakden, of Kingswood Close, Bawtry, was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Doncaster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Victim Iain Eldridge, from Auckley, remains in a critical condition in the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield.

The incident happened just after midnight on New Year’s Day on Station Road, Bawtry, Doncaster.

He was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary, but later transferred to the Hallamshire where he remains in a critical condition.
