Boy with hammer ‘dropping off gardening tools’ sparks police response on Sheffield street
Police were called to reports of a boy ‘armed with a lump hammer’ on a Sheffield street, in what turned out to be a misunderstanding.

Officers attended Abbeydale Road yesterday, Sunday, September 6, at around 8.40pm after concerned members of the public raised the alarm.
A police spokeswoman said: “On arrival officers found the 17-year-old boy who was en route to a friend’s house to drop off tools for gardening.
“Officers took the teenager home and gave advice about carrying tools in public.”
