Boy fighting for life after collision in Sheffield

A boy hit by a car as he crossed a road in Sheffield suffered life threatening injuries in the collision, it has been confirmed this morning.

The 12-year-old was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Insignia on Norton Avenue, Gleadless, at 6.10pm yesterday.

He was airlifted to hospital, where he remains today.

South Yorkshire Police said: “A 13-year-old boy has been seriously injured following a collision in the Gleadless area of Sheffield yesterday evening.

“At 6.10pm, it’s believed the boy was crossing the road outside Valley Park Family Centre in Norton Avenue when he was struck by a silver Vauxhall Insignia.

“The boy was airlifted to hospital where his condition is described as life threatening.

“Our Serious Collisions Unit are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who was driving through the area with dash cam footage, to get in touch.”
