The teenager was knifed in an attack on Leverton Drive, Sharrow, last night.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 6.45pm and the boy was found with a stab wound to his chest.

He was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital by ambulance and underwent surgery.

Concerned residents said they saw scenes of crime officers in Sharrow and described a heavy police presence overnight.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police were called to Leverton Drive by the ambulance service at around 6.45pm yesterday following reports of a stabbing.

“A 15-year-old boy was taken to Sheffield Children’s Hospital with a stab wound to the chest. He has had surgery and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

“Enquiries are ongoing this morning.”
