A BOUNCER was attacked in a Barnsley bar when he tried to split up a fight.

The man was working in the Che Bar, also known as Coco, on Peel Street in the town centre when he was injured.

Police said he was punched, kicked and stamped on when he intervened in a fight which broke out near the seating area at the top of the stairs in the bar.

The bouncer needed hospital treatment for his injuries.
