Boozy foul-mouthed man 'headbutted screen at Sheffield police station'

An abusive booze-fuelled man was arrested for being drunk-and-disorderly after he headbutted a perspex screen at a police station.

Sheffield Magistrates’ Court heard on March 5 how Wayne Anthony Pemberton, 43, of Deer Park Road, Sheffield, had visited Snig Hill Police Station, in Sheffield, when started banging on the counter and headbutted a screen.

David Marshall, prosecuting, said: “Mr Pemberton went into the police station at Snig Hill and it was 8am, on January 21, and he was drunk and shouting and swearing and banging on the counter and headbutting a perspex screen.”

Pemberton pleaded guilty to being drunk-and-disorderly.

The defendant said he has previously suffered a brain injury after an alleged assault which has had a massive effect upon him.

He added that this alleged assault is subject to a police investigation.

Magistrates fined Pemberton £40 and ordered him to pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
