Boozed-up woman is to be sentenced after kicking a cop

A booze-fuelled woman who is “crying out for help” is to be sentenced after she kicked a police officer.

Nadine Kelibie, aged 23, of High Hazels Close, Sheffield, kicked the officer after she had been arrested when police responded to an alleged disorder matter at Greenland Court, Sheffield.

Robert Coyne, prosecuting, told Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on December 31 that police turned-up following an allegation of disorder and after arresting Kelbie she lashed-out.

Mr Coyne said as Kelbie - who was intoxicated - was led away she kicked an officer on his right leg. He added no further action was taken on the disorder allegation.

Kelbie pleaded guilty to assault by beating after the attack on December 2.

Janice Young, defending, said Kelbie is remorseful and had been drinking heavily. She added she is suffering with mental health issues and is “crying out for help”.

Magistrates adjourned Kelbie’s case to consider a probation report before sentencing on January 31.
