Body found at South Yorkshire shopping centre after woman reported missing

Officers were called to the shopping centre at 4.23pm on Monday, March 16 following ‘reports of a concern for safety’.

On arrival they discovered the body of an 84-year-old woman, who had been reported missing from her home in Lincolnshire.

South Yorkshire Police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and the woman’s family is being supported by officers.

Barbara Burgess, from Holton-le-Clay, Lincolnshire, was reported missing to Lincolnshire Police on Monday morning.

The force said: “Sadly we can confirm that Barbara has been found in South Yorkshire but unfortunately not in the circumstances we had hoped and wished for.

“The family have asked that we pass on their thanks and sincere gratitude to the community for their time and the efforts that were made in trying to find her.”
