Bins set alight in alleyway next to row of shops

Two bins were set alight in an alleyway next to a row of shops in Sheffield.

The blaze on Halifax Road, Parson Cross, was spotted and reported to South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue at 11.50pm on Sunday.

Firefighters spent around 90 minutes at the scene as a precaution while they waited for a gas engineer to arrive to repair a damaged pipe.

The incident was also reported to South Yorkshire Police.

Firefighters spent three hours dealing with an arson attack on Hollings Lane, Thrybergh, Rotherham, the night before.

A large pile of rubbish, including a propane cylinder, was found on fire.
